2214 Randolph St- Drywall Up

The house at Randolph is really cruising along. Now that our I St project is wrapped up, we're going full steam ahead on Mellon and Randolph. At this house, all of the drywall is up, and they're in the finishing stages of sanding and taping. Elsewhere, the basement floor is being tiled, the windows are being capped, and the front door went in this afternoon. Next week, we're going to be done with all the trimwork and we'll begin painting.


Outside, all the windows went in earlier this week. In addition, the old front steps were removed and new steps were built from cinderblock and concrete. They still need to be covered in a thin layer of concrete to have a better finished look. It's been so cold outside that the concrete was freezing in the bucket, and the work had to stop. This is also why there are no gutters up yet and the columns haven't been stripped of the old paint. However, it's a little warmer today so work resumed outside.



This is earlier this morning. Selwin and Allan worked on replacing the paneling on the porch roof, and installing trim around the corners.



Here's the drywalled first floor. This arch is one of the orginal details that we were able to preserve.



The french doors were installed in the dining room to go out on to the new deck. They need to be stained and covered in polyurethane.


Here's the new tile in the basment. We always tile the entire basement floors in our houses. The truth is that water will always find it's way in to a basement- whether you live in a $50,000 house or a $5,000,000.00 house, and it's best to put in the tile as a precaution.

This is the current status of the upstairs loft area.
